The Challenge: Double Agents is the 36th season of MTV’s The Challenge. It was filmed this year during the Covid-19 Pandemic in Reykjavik, Iceland. The season is set to premiere on December 9th and will bring 30 reality stars together to compete for a million dollars. This season is legendary because two former legends have returned after several years off. Theresa Jones from The Challenge: Fresh Meat II and Darrell Taylor from Road Rules: Campus Crawl are both returning this season after years off. Theresa was last seen on The Challenge: Exes II in 2015 and Darrell was last seen on The Challenge: Dirty 30 in 2017. Their returns got me thinking of who else should return to The Challenge.

Rules:

  • Have to be able to still compete at a top-level.

Brandon Nelson (The Challenge: Fresh Meat II)

Seasons: 5

  • Fresh Meat II

Daily Wins: 3

Eliminations: 3–4

Brandon debuted on Fresh Meat II as a part of the fresh meat group. He had a solid season on Cutthroat where he won a few eliminations but eventually lost to Derrick Kosinski. He also had a solid performance in Rivals. Brandon was last seen on Free Agents but should return. Brandon is 36 years old and would usually be on the older side but The Challenge has been casting stars in their 30’s now. With Theresa returning then Brandon should return too.

Averey Tressler (Real World: Portland)

Seasons: 2

  • Exes II

Daily Wins: 0

Eliminations: 2–1

I have absolutely no idea why Averey was only cast twice. This was the same girl who got into a full fight with the 5'11 Nia Moore on Real World: Portland. She also brought the drama with her relationship with Johnny Reilly on Exes II which I know these producers love. Averey is only 29 years old and could be brought back and play another 10 seasons. I love this show but there are some decisions they make that I just don’t understand and this is one of them.

Adam Kuhn (Are You The One? 1)

Seasons: 1

  • Exes II

Daily Wins: 0

Eliminations: 3–1

I really thought Adam would have become a Challenge mainstay. He kind of had the same reaction that Jay Starrett had on Total Madness as an underdog who won a few eliminations and should not have been underestimated. Adam was partnered with his ex, Brittanny Baldassari, and won quite a few eliminations with her. Adam only did one season but could still do pretty well if he came back considering he’s only 30.

Brittini Sherrod (Real World: Hollywood)

Seasons: 1

  • The Duel II (2nd)

Daily Wins: 3

Eliminations: 2–0

Brittini is another former Challenger who only participated in one season of MTV’s The Challenge. She became a successful model and decided to retire after one season. She was on The Duel II and won two eliminations and lost in the final to Rachel Robinson. Brittini would have become a Challenge Champion if she stayed with the show. Brittini was taller and stronger than most of the female competitors on the show and would have been a serious threat to win the majority of the seasons she was on.

CJ Koegel (Real World: Cancun)

Seasons: 2

  • Fresh Meat II

Daily Wins: 2

Eliminations: 0–2

CJ was close to becoming a professional athlete. During his season of The Real World: Cancun there was an episode dedicated to him trying out for an NFL team. CJ also only did two seasons of The Challenge and both of them were partner/team seasons. He was partnered with Sydney Walker on Fresh Meat II and he was the alumni even though he was a rookie. On Battle of the Seasons II, he was partnered with Jonna Mannion, Jasmine Reymund, and Derek Chavez. I would have loved to see him perform on more seasons preferrable Free Agents or Dirty 30. CJ is still in shape and has been modeling for Men’s Fitness. He should be able to make a return on an individual season to show what he truly has to offer.

Heather Cooke (Real World: Back to Las Vegas)

Seasons: 1

  • Rivals II (2nd)

Daily Wins: 1

Eliminations: 2–0

Cooke had one of the best rookie seasons of all-time. Her original partner for Rivals II was Naomi Defensor but Naomi had to leave and Cara Maria Sorbello came in as a replacement. Cooke and Cara Maria were a great team that won two eliminations and a daily challenge. They made it all the way to the final but lost to the team of Paula Beckert and Emily Schromm. If Cooke ever came back I thought she would have become a Challenge Champion but she became a professional soccer player in The Philippines instead. Cooke just had a child but if she wants to return in a few years she could probably still win.

Marlon Williams (Real World: Portland)

Seasons: 1

  • Rivals II (3rd)

Daily Wins: 1

Eliminations: 2–0

Marlon only did one season of The Challenge. He premiered on Rivals II and won two eliminations and got 3rd place on his rookie season. His partner during this season was Jordan Wiseley who has become a Challenge Champion and one of the best players of all time. Marlon was a 50/50 partner during this season though as he was the physical part of the team and helped them tremendously through a lot of the challenge and especially the elimination vs Leroy Garrett & Ty Ruff. Marlon is still in shape and has gotten stronger. He was on Ex on the Beach: Peak of Love in 2019 so I am hoping a return is in the near future.

Emily Schromm (Real World: D.C)

Seasons: 3

  • Cutthroat (3rd)

Daily Wins: 8

Eliminations: 5–0

Emily is one of the best to ever do it. She has never been eliminated and made the final on every season she has been apart of. She was Jenny before Jenny came to the show. Emily only participated in three seasons and they were all team and/or partner seasons. I would have loved to see her on a season by herself like Free Agents, Invasion of the Champions, or Dirty 30. Realistically Emily could have more championships than Bananas if she never left. She came back in 2017 for Champs vs Pros and won 1st place with Johnny Bananas and Chris “CT” Tamburello. She is still in shape and won Women’s Health “The Next Fitness Star.” It would be great to see a Hall Brawl or any physical elimination between Emily Schromm and Jenny West. She has a lot going on for her right now but I am hoping if there is a 2–3 month break in her schedule she can make her return.

Frank Sweeney (Real World: Back to San Diego)

Seasons: 3

  • Battle of the Seasons II (1st)

Daily Wins: 6

Eliminations: 3–0

Frank had one of the best three-season runs in the history of the show. He won his rookie season of Battle of the Seasons II and then got 2nd place his next season with Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio as his partner. On Free Agents he won two eliminations and then was medically disqualified. That was Frank’s last season besides a role as a mercenary on Vendettas. Frank had the potential to be one of the best to ever do it. He was already a Challenge Champion and been through another final. Frank is still in shape and could possibly make a return to the show.

Evelyn Smith (The Challenge: Fresh Meat)

Seasons: 7

  • Fresh Meat

Daily Wins: 26

Eliminations: 6–3

Evelyn is the G.O.A.T. She won three seasons and retired by the age of 24. She is Cara Maria’s age who is still doing the show. Evelyn could come back and win a few more too. She really could have won The Ruins if she didn’t throw the elimination to her best friend, KellyAnne Judd. She also did not have a great partner on Fresh Meat or Fresh Meat II. Evelyn could have also been a 4-time Challenge Champion if the Vets team got rid of Eric “Big Easy” Banks before the final on The Gauntlet III. Evelyn is currently a lawyer and worked for Sara Gideon’s campaign for Senator of Maine. I’m hoping she wants to do one or two more because she would destroy most of these new school competitors.
